Journal of a City Girl is a blog by Tracey, a South African city girl that married her high school sweetheart, adopted a cat, then packed up their belongings and embarked on a semi-nomadic life of working, living, travelling and photographing every step of their way around the globe.
This is a window into life as an expat, amusing stories of what it’s like to keep restarting in a new city, moving a neurotic cat across the globe and our many travel tales along the way. But most importantly it is this girl’s dream to taste chocolate from every country in the world #ConfessionsofaChocoholic
In between the expat stories, travel tales and tips this blog strives to highlight affordable luxury travel, hidden gems and secret nooks of a city as well as what attractions are actually worth visiting and local’s recommendations. Because the internet doesn’t need another post about the Top 10 things to do in NYC or another Paris bucket list.
But ultimately this blog serves as a souvenir of our journey and our lives together.
Follow along on our adventure
Like so many other young couples, we have a severe case of wanderlust and an ever-growing bucket list. Which is why we chose to live a nomadic life, so we can travel, work and chase the next adventure.
Raised on sunshine and braai wors (barbeque sausage), South Africa will always be home. But we have moved around and have created a life and home in Windhoek, Namibia and now Toronto, Canada.
Ryan is my Dear Husband, my soulmate, partner in crime, travel companion and the one who has to patiently wait to eat his pain au chocolat, while I take 550 photos of it!
