This Will Be The Most Talked About Destination of 2018

Annually, one destination is always favoured to be the destination of the year. Leading travel websites, travel experts and editors all around the world weigh in, to curate a list of the best places to travel in 2018. There are always a few destinations dominating the top spots usually because they are hosting major international events, celebrations or reinventing themselves. Making them the desired destination and leaving us all rewriting our bucket lists.

In 2017, Canada unanimously topped all the lists as the number 1 destination. 2017 was a big year for Canada as it celebrated its 150th anniversary and among the massive celebrations planned, entry to all their National Parks was free for the entire year – which meant tourists came flocking (us included).

Now it’s that time of the year, where next years “it” destinations are revealed. I have crossed reference multiple sites and tallied the results to reveal next years leading destination.

I Wish I Knew Before Visiting Disney World the Very First Time

8 Things I Wish I Knew Before Visiting Disney World for the Very First Time

For the Disney rookies like ourselves that have not mastered the art of getting every bang for their buck nor maximising their limited (and expensive) time, here are the few key things I wish I knew before visiting Disney World for the very first time.

I did absolutely zero research prior to our trip to Disney World and Universal Orlando, it was all booked through an agent. I just wanted to step into utopia with innocent eyes. See it with childhood wonderment not having pre-seen all the nooks and crannies, made dinner reservations and plotted our path down to the minute with military precision (which is my usual travel style). My thinking behind doing zero, zip, diddly-squat research was its off-peak season, we are two adults with no children to worry about and Disney World is designed with children in mind thus surely we could follow our hearts, be lead by spontaneity and figure it out along the way.

Don’t make my mistake, a trip to Disney World actually requires a teacup’s worth of forward planning.

First Time on Safari: Everything you Need to Know

Silently perched in a rugged open-air safari vehicle, as a herd of elephants casually trudge across a sandy road just a few steps ahead of you. Surrounded by the African bushveld humming with insects, the cracking branches from the trees as the elephants carve their path and the occasional grunt of an animal far out in the distance. There is nothing quite like the sights, sounds and experience of going on your first safari.

As a locally grown South African I grew up on sunshine and safari getaways – the ultimate bucket list item for most! Over the years, having gone on more game drives than I can count on my fingers and toes I have seen a lot of wildlife, and a fair share questionable tourist behaviour. It is now time to share some tips, “must dos” and “don’t you dare do’s” when embarking on your very first African safari. This will ensure you take away a truly memorable African adventure.

Where to Travel in 2017 & Our Wishlist

Oh, how I love making lists. Besides writing my list for Santa, this time of year I am also planning and writing our 2017 travel wishlist. Looking ahead to the 2017 travel trends, when can we squeeze in some adventures and narrowing down exactly where to see next.

According to Skyscanner, a leading flight search engine the trending, destinations for 2017 are the usual suspects. London, New York, Bangkok, Dubai, Bali, Vietnam (which I highly recommend everyone experience), South Korea and Morocco, to name a few. Lonely Planet named Canada the country to see in 2017 followed by Colombia and Finland, whilst National Geographic suggestions are rather similar.
